“Never apologize for showing feeling. When you do so, you apologize for the truth.” – Benjamin Disraeli

I watched an interview tonight with Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac. In it, she spoke of her relationship with Lindsey Buckingham and how difficult it had been for the past 30 years.

Finally, on the advice of her mother, she approached Lindsey and apologised. In the interview, Stevie reflected on how Lindsey wished she’d said this earlier, and she also wished the same thing.

“It would have made the last 30 years a lot better. It’s much more fun now.”

Today’s IQ is a simple message: If you’ve messed up, apologize. Don’t let your pride or your ego get in the way. Just say “I’m sorry.”

The one exception to this is as per Benjamin Disraeli’s quote, and even then, it’s important to be mindful of how your communication will be received.

So if you need to, or if it will make your life better in some way, apologize.

With love,
Israel. xo
