“Seek not to follow in the footsteps of men of old; seek what they sought.” Matsuo Basho

Which kind of begs the question: “What did the men of old seek?”

My guess? Meaning. Fulfilment. Balance. Satisfaction. Achievement. Comfort. Love. Knowledge.

Hmm. Probably love. That’s my take on it – and I’m thinking love of SELF more than love of OTHERS.

See, here’s the thing. If we don’t love ourselves, we’re unable to love other people fully.

And loving ourselves is a process of self discovery. What do I like doing? Who do I like being with? Who am I? Who do I want to be? How do I want to live?

All of these questions can only really, truly be answered through the lens of loving oneself.

Love. Thy. Self.

Do that, and then you’ll be seeking what the men of old sought – with the added side dish of being completely and utterly full of love for who you are, exactly as you are.

With love, for myself and for you,
Israel. xo
