Since Indrani (our daughter) was born 7 weeks premature, we were ready to welcome our new baby from 32 weeks – just in case. But just like Indrani, this little one was determined to arrive when he was ready – 4 days overdue!
We welcomed our gorgeous boy – Rilien Gar – on 11th October 2010, and being a little indulgent, we’d love to share some of his first portraits with you. These were taken by Israel when he was 2 weeks old.
Rilien means “Brilliant” – & after 2 miscarriages, we feel his name is very appropriate. Not to mention, we think it makes his name a little unique given Smith as his surname.
Gar is what Israel used to call his Grandmother (his dad’s mum). Indrani’s middle name is Florence after my nan (dads mum) & so we wanted our second child’s middle name to follow the same theme.

This last minute snap of Rilien in his bassinet is so special as 6 weeks on, he has almost outgrown it and we are getting ready to move him to a cot. They really are so small for such a short time.
