Hard Conversations (R U OK?) …

Last week (as I publish this) was R U OK? Day. The day is a global phenomenon, all about asking that simple question “Are You OK?” and starting conversations that can change – and save – lives. It’s a day of bringing awareness to suicide and its prevalence, and bringing some old-fashioned connection back to our lives, human to human, to help slow down / zero out the rates of suicide.

In this episode I reflect on the nature of hard conversations. We get scared, we don’t know what to do, what to say, or how to approach them, and more than anything, we often shy away from feeling uncomfortable about having hard chats.

It’s something I’ve recently experienced in my own life, as well as via R U OK? Day, and it’s something I’m teaching as part of a corporate workshop through the latter part of this year.
