“Self-love is the source of all our other loves.” – Pierre Corneille

I can’t emphasise this enough. Seriously. Self-love is where everything starts. If we love ourselves, as we are, all faults if any, then we can get on with the joy of life.

Loving other people without baggage.
Doing work that matters without insecurities and self-doubt.
Respecting our bodies and minds without self-sabotaging behaviours.

I have this sneaking suspicion that lack of self-love is at the heart of many illnesses. We don’t love ourselves, so we – for whatever weird, twisted reason – decide to punish ourselves instead. Ergo, illness.

But, I didn’t want to drag this down into the muck. I’ve had a brilliant day, full of wonderful creativity, so let me be positive to conclude:

I am always at MY best when I love myself, and show myself this through positive reinforcing behaviours. For example, I went for a good, fast 5km run today. (Personal best, after 2 months without running! Bizarre.)

Likewise, you are always at YOUR best, when you love yourself. Take some time today and show yourself how much you love yourself. Get to bed early. Take 20 minutes for a short stroll, or a quiet cup of tea, or a nap, or a good book in the park. You know what cranks your own handle… do that.

With love,
Israel. xo
