ISIQ-0263

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” – William Shakespeare

You know, this is a newly-discovered Shakespeare quote for me. But it is, without doubt, one of my favourites.

I strongly believe in the healing powers of nature; going outside barefoot, to connect with nature, is one of the best cure-alls I know. It also does remind us that we’re all here, on the same planet, going through the same struggles, and being taught the same lessons by the world.

I woke up this morning with a line of an old Noiseworks song going through my head – “Reach out and touch somebody.” While the line was probably originally written with a more amorous slant, the line encouraged me to go down the path of “touch” when figuring out what to write and create for today’s IQ.

The whole point is to connect – with yourself, with nature, with others. Connect. It’s what we’re here for.

At this point, I must say a deep thankyou to those of you who connected with me after yesterday’s IQ. I love you all, even those of you I haven’t met, and I am so grateful that you enjoy my humble creations each day.

My challenge to you is this: take off your shoes, go outside, and stand on the grass/dirt/sand/rock/earth for 10 minutes. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and feel the earth around you.

Do it today. And notice how you feel afterwards. My bet is you’ll feel more grounded, more alive, more peaceful.

Then do it EVERY day.

And once you’ve connected with nature, CALL someone you haven’t spoken to in a while. (Not email, Facebook, etc. TELEPHONE.) Connect. Say hello. Tell them you’ve been thinking of them.

I’m off for my dose of nature, RIGHT NOW, and I’m gonna call my cousin later this morning.

With love,
Israel. xo
