“Just be patient. Let the game come to you. Don’t rush. Be quick, but don’t hurry.” – Earl Monroe

Earl Monroe is a former professional basketball player in the NBA, with a distinctive style, and amazing ball-handling skill. I watched this video before I wrote this, and I was getting dizzy from his spins and turns.

The words of his quote show a maturity and peace around the fast-paced game of basketball, that show an important trait of his: mastery.

When we master something, we can be quick and calm. We can almost sense the opportunities before we see them, and put ourselves in the right place at the right time to take advantage of them.

I chose this photo of Crescent Head’s wave for that reason – surfing is also about the delicate balance between pace and peacefulness.

Patience – the acceptance of any delay, problems, or suffering, without becoming annoyed or anxious. How much of that could we all benefit from, when we go through our daily life?

For me, being patient right now, means waiting for the right bus to come along, without forcing it, and remaining peaceful throughout. It means doing the right things right in my business knowing that this month’s finances will be great, and staying calm even when they’re not.

Let me know: what does patience mean in your life?

With love,
Israel. xo
