“The health of the eye seems to demand a horizon. We are never tired, so long as we can see far enough.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Another pearler from my esteemed colleague Mr Emerson. I think this references our spiritual eye as much as our physical ones. We need to be able to see our horizon to stay motivated.
Conversely, I think “being stuck” is kind of a symptom of staring at our feet too often. Continuously looking down at the ground we’re currently standing on, while good for “being present” is not so good for “moving forward”.
Looking up and ahead at the horizon, we are prompted to take action, search, quest, adventure, and otherwise move towards the horizon. It’s almost magnetic.
What horizon are you moving towards?
Or are you busy staring at your feet?
Chin up, my friend. Look up and ahead.
