“Grow.”

Continuing a theme of one- or two-word quotographs. Today’s was largely inspired by the photo, but also inspired by an exciting event called The Instigator Experience that a friend of mine is running in California in April.

Grow.

A verb, obviously. Something you do. The google-dictionary defines it thus:

Grow:
1) (of a living thing) undergo natural development by increasing in size and changing physically.
2) come into existence and develop.

I agree with this, except I think it is too narrow. We can grow in all dimensions, on all planes – not just physically, but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, too.

Srini and Greg (hosts of The Instigator Experience, and buddies of mine) talk regularly about this in their podcast, and about how we “level-up” in our lives and make stuff happen through personal growth and development.

In some cases it occurs naturally, but in my experience growth is a choice.

We can choose to grow. We can choose to put ourselves in situations where we are forced to grow. We can choose to educate ourselves, to attend conferences, to listen to podcasts, or to read books.

Or, we can choose to stagnate.

It is a choice. The choice of doing nothing, and maintaining the status quo, is absolutely a choice. As my dear friend AJ Leon says: “Mediocre is a choice.”

True in work, true in art, true in life.

What do you choose?

With love,
Israel. xo
