“Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.”  – Rabindranath Tagore

I’ve written about faith before, at some length. Interestingly, faith is a word we often associate with organised religion. To have “faith” is usually to believe in some kind of god or higher power.

But here’s the Google dictionary definition:

faith
feɪθ/
noun
  1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
“this restores one’s faith in politicians”

  2. strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.
“bereaved people who have shown supreme faith”

I’d never noticed before how the religious definition was second in the list. And while I don’t necessarily agree that the example given will ever come to pass – restoring one’s faith in politicians – I do wholeheartedly agree with the first actual definition.

I have complete trust and confidence in myself. And my actions. And my choices.

And I have complete trust and confidence that where I am right now is exactly where I need to be.

Just like the bird who feels the light when the dawn is still dark, in my darkest moments, I can still sense that there is something to strive towards and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

What do you have faith in? Yourself? Religion? The Universe? Let me know – I’m really interested :)

With love,
Israel. xo
