“I have always believed in the magic of childhood and think that if you get your life right that magic should never end.” – Colin Thompson

Colin Thompson is the man who brought us such amazing kids picture books as Looking For Atlantis, which I have written about here. In fact, I have only ever read one of his books – that one – but it is such a profound story, and so beautiful, that I find myself wiping away tears of happiness at the end of it. Every. Single. Time.

Today was a beautiful day.

I did yoga this morning for the 2nd day in a row … rekindling the “every day” spark I had earlier this year. I find myself to be so peaceful after I practise. Honestly, I am a different man, and my wife and kids all point this out to me too.

I also took time out from work today to have a balloon swordfight with Indrani and Rilien, followed by impersonating Michaelangelo (the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle) with two balloons as nunchucks, and watching them dissolve into fits of laughter. It was pure, utter bliss. I smiled and laughed just as much, which in itself was also pure, utter bliss.

I then discovered (randomly) that the Hindu/Buddhist word “ananda” means “bliss” or “extreme happiness”. I love that word. I had some extreme happiness with clients throughout the day, and shared that “ananda” with some of my buddies via social media.

Finally, I had a peaceful, serene storytime with Rilien while I read Looking For Atlantis to him again. And cried, again.

The point of all this is that I enjoyed my day immensely, and felt that the day was, in many respects, magical. Which brings me to Colin Thompson’s quote.

Our lives are as magical as we allow them to be. I really really love this magic, and I will pursue it with fun and love each and every day. I hope you can do the same.

With love and ananda,
Israel. xo
