“Allow yourself time to recover.”

The thing about recovery is that it takes time. The other thing is that you have to allow yourself to recover. You can’t force it. You can’t skip it. It must be a surrender of sorts.

Our bodies and spirits are amazing things, and they know what’s best for them.

When our bodies send us signals like, say, a migraine (taking a completely random example that absolutely DID happen to me this afternoon…) there are – I believe – three steps we need to take:

Firstly we need to listen to our bodies.

Secondly, we need to surrender to the amazing, self-healing, self-rejuvenating system that is the human body. It really does know best.

Thirdly, we need to allow the time it takes for our bodies to recover. It ain’t gonna happen instantly, but it will happen if you simply shut up and get out of the way.

I’ve found this to be true SO MANY TIMES in my life, and in so many different forms, from health, to work, to art, to spirituality, etc.

But here’s the thing I’d like to know: have YOU found this to be true at all? What happened that made you stop and allow yourself time to recover?

With love,
Israel. xo
