ISIQ-0139

Ahoy friends,

There’s a few reasons for today’s post.

My life is, at the moment, a twisting journey with lots of detours and lots of “interesting” discoveries. Parenthood, marriage, business, friendship, fitness, health, sleep… all of these things are a journey in their own right. And none of them can exist independently, so they necessarily are intertwined – one journey is actually many separate-yet-connected journeys.

The difficulty here is in remembering that the journey is the important part, not the destination. Life is one great, big, lesson comprised of an enormous number of smaller lessons.

This quote gives me peace.

It’s OK to not know the destination, and it’s OK to take a meandering path from A to B. It’s actually fine to simply wander, with the intention of wandering and seeing what discoveries can be made. In fact, that’s kinda what makes for an interesting life.

My man Tolkein was all about taking a meandering path (seriously, read his Wikipedia page) – as were some of his most famous characters in Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. You could hardly call their lives dull and uninteresting. (Even if they are fantasy characters.)

Which brings me nicely to tonight.

It’s date night. I’m going to sit down with a glass of red and some dark chocolate, and watch The Hobbit on DVD. With my wife. In our surround sound theatre.

I do love this meandering path on nights like this!

With love,
Israel. xo

P.S. Today’s image (and tomorrow’s, actually) was taken on the Eastern Beaches Photo Walk held on 27th April. If you missed it, be sure to jump over to https://israelsmith.com/photowalk/ to see some of my shots from the day, and register for the next one which is on Saturday 27th July 2013.
