ISIQ-0108

Hi my friends,

It’s late-ish on Sunday night as I write this, having just created the above IQ for tomorrow’s 6am dispatch.

I’ve enjoyed a lazy, wonderful Sunday with my family. I left my phone intentionally out of reach for the entire time my kids were awake, and most of the evening too, as part of a new philosophy in our household of “unplugged Sundays” where we leave technology out of the equation as much as possible.

I have had – as a direct result – the most beautifully restful day and feel refreshed and energised to a level I can’t recently remember.

(It’s possible that the 1.5 – 2 hour nap this afternoon also helped. )

Nonetheless, today’s IQ is about the importance of taking time to rest. And taking time to be thankful. And taking time to be thankful for our rest. It’s working on a couple of levels, yo.

I heartily, nay, enthusiastically encourage you all to take some quality REST time this week. Stop your busy lives for a while, and breathe. Enjoy some simple down-time, and leave your technology out of reach. Listen to the birds. Enjoy the strong scent of your morning coffee without staring at a screen. Close your eyes and appreciate the marvellous thing that is your own body, breathing, pumping, and keeping you alive moment to moment.

And then, when you’re done, notice the bliss you feel, and the calm that descends, and be thankful for that.

And then share this notion with other people you care about, so they might enjoy the same rest, and thankfulness, and thankfulness for their rest.

With all my love and gratitude,
Israel. xo
