ISIQ-0250

“Success is measured by your discipline and inner peace.” – Mike Ditka

I was video-chatting with a great new friend of mine from Fargo – Brandon LaPlante – earlier tonight about mental toughness, resilience and discipline.

You could be forgiven for thinking we were discussing boot camp in the armed forces. Actually, we were talking about what is needed to create a meaningful career as an artist.

We are only as good as the strength of our mind. We are only as good as our integrity – our ability to do what we say we will.

The hardest integrity conversation is always the one we have with ourselves. It’s easy to keep promises to others, but how often do we break promises to ourselves? And what is the cost?

This is part one of today’s IQ: the ability to have self-discipline, to be mentally resilient, and to follow through for our own reasons – not because someone else will kick our butt.

Part two of today’s IQ is about finding centre: finding our balance and peace with who we are, what we are about, what we want to do, and why.

When you have discipline (you do what you say you will, for yourself) and inner peace (a clear picture of who you are and where you’re going) then you are unstoppable.

With love,
Israel. xo
