“The best dream is a dream shared.” – Rachel Smith

Today, I watched a beautiful, inspiring TEDx talk by one my readers – Rachel Smith, from Queensland, Australia. (Hi Rachel!)

Rachel gave a wonderful talk – humorous and insightful – about the notion of dreaming, and what, specifically, we tend to dream about in Australia.

Please take 15 mins and watch the presentation. It’s awesome. In it, Rachel asks for us to dream about what kind of future we want.

In keeping with Rachel’s quote for today’s IQ, I’m sharing my dream with you all:

————–

My New Dream for Australia.

I dream of an Australia where depression and other mental illnesses are openly discussed, addressed, and treated as the genuine diseases they are.
I dream of an Australia where parents choose quality time and life experiences for their children, instead of day care, stressful jobs, and enormous debt.
I dream of an Australia where education is focussed on creativity and collaborative problem solving, instead of competitive memory tests.
I dream of an Australia where our environment is cherished and protected, and environmental sustainability is embraced, not shunned.
I dream of an Australia where industry and government work together on inspiring visions for a bright, sustainable, abundant future for all.
I dream of an Australia where my children can grow, learn, love, and live free from prejudice or inequality based on race, gender, sexuality, spirituality or life choices.
I dream of an Australia that truly is the lucky country.

To quote the immortal words of John Lennon:
“You may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one.”

With love,
Israel. xo
