Things that are worthwhile rarely happen instantly. They take time to grow and develop. At least, that’s what is going through my mind as I continue the journey of writing this book.

I added another 500 words to the book’s total tonight, and ticked off another chapter as completed. (Pending edits, obvs.) There are still plenty of unwritten chapters, believe me, but I take a great deal of joy from rounding out a solid chunk of the story, and crafting the closing paragraphs. Tick. Done. Complete.

I’m proud of myself, and I’m letting myself feel it. I’m creating a new habit of writing each day, and making a meaningful, if small, contribution to move closer to a finished book. So far, so good.

Another point about growth: Growth also needs love. Gentle, caring love, given freely.

By making sure I bring love and care to this book, I feel it will grow into the project I envisage: A cracking good read, full of emotion, inspiration and aspiration.

A book that might make people think about their own lives and choices a bit differently. A book I can be proud to send out into the world, knowing I gave it everything and made it the best it could be – as good as it deserved to be.

A book that does justice to the story I’ve lived thus far.

On that note, I need to tell you how grateful I am that you’re here. Without you – and, importantly, the grace of my wife who suggested I complete my writing before we have date night (which is rapidly getting later and later) – I’d have possibly given myself an excuse to ditch my writing again, and broken my streak.

Thankyou.

With love,
Israel. xo
